QUEERING CONTRACEPTIVE COUNSELING
Contraceptive counseling is central to reproductive and sexual health care. However, many of the scripts that we use to guide our patients through the process centers "she/her" pronouns, traditional assumptions about people's sex lives and values, and a cisgender anatomical focus. In order for us to best provide relevant information to patients, we must use a queer lens to engage in contraceptive counseling. Not only will this workshop help to make conversations with queer patients more comfortable, it will provide suggestions for making contraceptive counseling for all patients more accurate and precise.
